Pepper Spray

In the article “UC Davis police did not need to pepper spray” by Marcos Breton, it said that students were pepper sprayed while protesting. The article also said that the students were protesting to get UC Chancellor Linda P.B Katechi to step down and while doing so the UC Davis police came geared up and pepper sprayed the students. In response Linda P.B Katechi later apologized for what occurred with the students. Katechi also said “she never authorized the campus police to show up in riot gear or to use force against the students. But the cops did.” The article also mentions that this event may allow the students to accomplish more than just getting rid off Katechi and many cause a much bigger effect. By taking the spotlight from New York and Oakland with the “Occupy” movement.

In my opinion the cops should have not pepper sprayed the student’s as they were not being violent or showing any threatening movements towards the police. The intent of the pepper spray is to disorientate a person that is imposing threat towards one in order to show defense. But the students did not show any threatening behavior towards the campus police. The students were just sitting down in a certain area of the campus. I believe that this is a good example of what has become more common in today, which is for Law Enforcement to use any force necessary to show that they are the ones in charge not thinking of the ending result of their actions.

"Inspiration"

In small and large ways, we are all inspired. We draw our inspiration from people, pictures, art, music, behaviour, nature, etc. Consider something that inspires you and write a blog post of 300-350 words about it. Here are some things you may touch on:

• Describe the source of your inspiration- be specific and detailed.
• What feelings or emotions do you experience?
• Are you alone or do you share this inspiration with others? Are you aware of others having an alternate reaction to your source of inspiration?
• Forecast how long you think this inspiration will last- does it inspire you in the moment or something that you will derive inspiration from for the years to come?

As individuals we go by everyday either trying to be rich or at least live a comfortable life but through everyday we have obstacles and challenges that make us want to give up and these things are called struggles. To many the struggles seem like its the end of the world but they all have something or somebody that inspires them to get through these struggles. There is a lot of things that have influence in me that inspire me and one main one would have to be my daughter. She is a four year old little girl that likes to eat, draw, play with dolls and watches cartoon but she makes me want to strive on an everyday basis to provide a good life for her. She has made me grow as a person and has made me realize that the love I have for her is genuine. She is my motivation to keep pushing against any obstacle that I am faced with and she makes me go for what I want. When I had my daughter many said my life was over but in reality my life had just began and she gave me the inspiration that I needed to stay focused to pursue a better life. It has been tough from the beginning and I know that it's not going to get easy as time progresses but just to know that I can provide for her inspires me. If at any point in time I am derailed from my focus I can just take a glance at her and I am soon reminded on why its not worth wasting my time on unnecessary things. I know that she will not stop from being my inspiration because as every day passes she is on my mind no matter what I am doing. Just to know that I now have somebody that depends on me. I know I am not the only one that feels this way, their is a lot of parents may have their kids as their inspiration and they understand how for your kids you have one main goal and that is to provide a good life for them.
